Server-side tagging gives you more control, better performance, and improved data privacy for your analytics and marketing tags. With Taggian, you can host your Google Tag Manager (sGTM) container entirely in the EU with an easy-to-use interface.

This guide walks you through the full setup.

    Step 1: Create a Server-Side GTM Container

    1. Log in to **tagmanager.google.com**.
    2. Create a new container and choose **Server** as the container type.
    3. After creation, you'll see a popup asking how you'd like to set up your tagging server.
    4. Select **Manually provision tagging server**.
    5. Copy the **Container Config** shown in the box.

It looks like a long code string, for example:

    Container Config
    aWQ9R1RNLVBG...
    Belangrijk

**Important:** Save this Config — you'll need it when creating your container in Taggian.

Step 2: Create a Free Account on Taggian.io

    1. Visit **Taggian.io** and click **Start Free Trial**.
    2. Create your first workspace (this is where you'll manage containers).
    3. No credit card required — your 7-day free trial begins right away.

Step 3: Create a Container in Taggian and Insert Your Config ID

    1. Inside your Taggian workspace, click **New Container**.
    2. Enter a name (e.g., *Main Website*).
    3. Paste the **Container Config** from Step 1.
    4. Click **Create Container**.
    Succes

**Success:** Taggian will now deploy your server-side GTM container on its EU cloud infrastructure.

Step 4: Add a Custom Domain

To make tracking requests look more natural and brand-aligned, add a custom subdomain:

    1. Go to your container in Taggian → **Settings** → **Domains**.
    2. Add a subdomain, for example `tags.mywebsite.com`.
    3. Taggian will show you the DNS CNAME record you need to add.
    4. Log in to your DNS provider (e.g., Cloudflare, GoDaddy) and create the record.
    5. Wait for DNS propagation (usually within minutes to a few hours).
    6. Once active, your sGTM container will respond on your custom domain.

    Final Check

Your sGTM container is live on Taggian.

    You've added your custom domain.

You can now configure tags, triggers, and variables in GTM, pointing data collection to your new domain.

This completes your setup! You're ready to benefit from faster, more reliable, and more privacy-friendly tracking using Taggian.
